He is the worst actor in history lol. In every film I've seen him in, all he does is shout and be angry.

Really? In history? I take it you've only seen one or two movies in your entire life then.

I give you....this:

When the football is the most compelling aspect of a scene, you know you've stumbled onto something special. I mean, I know you're being hyperbolic, but I the list of "worst actors" is a mile long before it ever gets to Bale.

Hopefully it will be a comedy and not a hagiography.
Idol worship and cult of personality have reached alarming levels in the US. :D

Boehner is pronounced BAY-ner.

Yabutt there aren't many BAY-ner jokes around.
Shirley the world need a little more humor, not less.

Ashton Kutcher can't act.

And Aaron Sorkin is a great choice. He'll be able to write a screenplay infinitely more cohesive and readable than Isaacson's book which I found poorly written.

Ashton Kutcher can't act to save his life. Dumb is his only plausible method acting persona.

He might look similar to Jobs at some point in his life, but as soon as he opens his mouth the movie will be lost.

Even Nicholas Cage would deliver lines better.

Normally I would agree with you but this is Mother ****** Steve Jobs. They could put some barely name actor and it will make a fortune in the box office. Even though it will be dry and rather boring cause Sorkin isn't exactly known for his witty repartee etc.
It's hard to tell in text, but I seriously hope that's sarcasm.

Okay, maybe not in history. He is pretty low on the list though in my opinion. This however, does not mean I don't think he won't do a good job as Jobs.

I take it you haven't seen "The Butterfly Effect" then.

He was good in that. He was even good in No Strings Attached (or was it Friends With Benefits ), which my wife made me watch. At least Mila/Natalie (I can't remember who was the co-star in which!) was there for me to look at.:p

So true,...
I still to this day can't describe "The Social Network" in a way that sounds like it should be as good a movie as it is.

What I really hear is that Trent Reznor and his good lady wife are doing the soundtrack.

I'm very curious how Steve Jobs will look in the movie.

I'm sure we won't see that candy colored hero figure as which most see them, but rather the rough and elitist (not a bad thing in my world) person he was.

There will be a lot of shadows that will give a three dimensional image of Jobs on one level, and of a major business person and how really big success is achieved in business on a more general level.

Some Apple fans may not like the movie.

As far as casting for Jobs, I actually do agree that Tom Cruise might be a good fit. I can imagine him delivering lines with the same conviction that Jobs did due to his pointed speaking style. As cheesy as his smile can be at times, Jobs did have a big grin himself.

IMO the actor will have to be on the older side to play Jobs during the time span that most of Isaacson's book takes covers. Cruise is pretty versatile with his looks depending on what kind of hair or facial hair he has. For (loose) example:

Younger Jobs:

Imagine him with the round glasses and less hair. Pretty close(?)

Can you imagine Cruise in a black turtleneck standing in front of the MobileMe team with angry eyes saying, "Then why the **** doesn't it do that?"

Tom Cruise is such a perfect, obvious choice that it baffles me how few people are mentioning him.

I like it

You need someone with a ton of charisma to give off that reality distortion field. Tom Cruise works

I can't picture Christian Bale reenacting a WWDC speech without it being brooding and overly serious. The guy never smiles

I can't picture Ashton Kutcher reenacting a WWDC speech without going apesh** like Steve Ballmer. Maybe they can shave his head, put him in a fat suit, and hire him to play Ballmer

David Fincher should direct the biopic. Steve Jobs was a perfectionist when it came to Apple products. Fincher himself is a perfectionist and always obsessed over the smallest details. For example, the opening break up scene of "The Social Network", where Mark and Erica are at the pub, took 99 takes to complete. There's no other director who can pull this off. The only thing I'm worried about is that Fincher is attached to "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" sequels. Hopefully he takes a break in between shooting to do the Steve Jobs biopic. Plus, Apple's biggest fanboy-director is Fincher!

The actor to portray Steve Jobs in the Sorkin penned script should be Stanley Tucci. Not only does he look like Jobs, but he is an amazing actor (his role in "Captain America" doesn't count :p ). Yes he was a supporting character in "The Devil Wears Prada" and in "Julie & Julia," but if Tucci was cast, this would be his biggest, yet most noteworthy acting gig to date.

For the non-Sorkin biopic (the one with Kutcher), I think Christian Bale should've been casted instead of Ashton. Though Kutcher may look like a younger Jobs, Bale would've been a better choice because he immerses himself into the character (he lost 63 pounds to play Trevor Reznik in "The Machinist"). As for the non-Sorkin biopic, wouldn't you want Batman playing Steve Jobs?

I am so SO excited by this. I literally loved The Social Network. I am so excited that I don't even care who plays Jobs. I wish it was Noah, but I'm sure there are other talented people out there which I haven't heard about.

I think it would be better if it wasn't a well known actor. Blank canvas so to speak. They don't even need to be that close a match in terms of look.

There have been lots of anecdotes for co-workers and the Bio gave glimpses of his private/working persona. There seems to be a lot more depth than the public persona that seems to always be the focus. That's to me where the interesting story could come from. Why? What drove him? How did he make his personality work for him not against him? After all we already know it was a double edged sword.

Sure, at the end of the day or the movie we'll see a character base on Steve Jobs. Only the people close to him will ever know the real Steve Jobs. Still if someone can pull it together it will really be interesting.
