Abnormal problem with contact photos

Hi, guys. Leave aside the new "Contact Posters" feature, I have a serious problem with the normal photos I had assigned to my contacts in my address book: they no longer appear when I make or receive a phone call. Can anyone tell me why and how to fix it? Thank you.

I had to change them over to contact posters to get them to appear.

It’s just Apple forcing you to do things their way once again. Old hat.

Okay but it’s a nightmare if you have to do it for each manually 🙁

Try it with 900 contacts and then tell me.

Sure. But the contacts work JUST FINE. The only issue is you’re not getting a pretty picture when they call. If that’s your definition of a “nightmare” then I guess you’ve lived a charmed life.

It’s an ugly gray background. In iOS 16 I could use apps like Sync to put pictures with one tap.
