In the process of updating to 10.8.4 its saying about 10 seconds for about 10 minutes should I try something or leave it be

This is normal - OS X can give WILDLY inaccurate times for installation (or anything else that OS X gives an estimate for, like file copy jobs). Leave it alone for now. If it doesn't respond after 30 minutes, something's likely gone wrong.
