Recently bought a samsung vibrant from tmobile due to not being able to use my iphone 4.1 2.10.04. I am tired of waiting for the unlock and my friend offered me $300 USD and a x10 mini sony ericson phone. Is this a good deal?

Are we talking about trading an iPhone 4 for $300 cash + SE mini X10?

I dunno, that's not THAT bad of a deal. Looks like iPhone 4's sell for about $500 all day on eBay

mini X10s are about ~$200, that's about $500 "value" right there, assuming the X10 is in great condition and you turn right around and sell it.

Better yet, tell your friend to sell the X10 and give you $500 straight up. If you were to sell the iPhone straight out on eBay or something, you could probably get a bit more, but it looks like $500 is a fair/average price for it.

thanks, it's a black iphone 4.1 2.10.04 jailbroken perfect condition and I managed to talk him to throw in a T-mobile G2.

So now the deal is, iphone 4.1 vs $300 USD, SE X10 mini, Tmobile G2.

Really want to keep my iphone 4, but the whole unlock been disappointed me lately. I've been a tmobile customer for 11 years and I like to stick it the way it is. So good deal?

I would do that in a heartbeat, assuming the X10 and G2 are in good shape.

You could easily get ~500 for the two of those on eBay. Plus the $300 cash..

Anybody who says that's a bad deal is delusional

Here is my thought sell him the i4 and also sell the X10 and G2 buy a cheap dumb phone after you sell those you will have about enough for a factory unlocked I4 :D only thing to keep in mind is we are about 6 months to a new model. but you will always get more money for a factory unlocked and never have to worry about firmware updates. in fact ask your buddy too throw in a cheapo phone to seal the deal.

thanks, it's a black iphone 4.1 2.10.04

Umm.

You seem to be posting the software version of your iPhone which can run on any of the last three iPhones that were produced.

The different iPhones that came out are: iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4.

Only the iPhone 4 has that baseband. Instead of calling out his mistake.

Good info.

OP, in that case, I wouldn't sell it for $300. Since its running that baseband, I believe you can also unlock it, which can easily make your iPhone sell for a good amount on Ebay.

I don't think you can unlock that.

Ah crap, I think you're right. :)I thought I read somewhere about it being unlocked. Looks like that method would involve updating it to the iPad baseband (I believe it was) and that could screw up your phone.

Either way OP, $300 is pretty cheap for an iPhone 4, even the 16Gb.

As mentioned earlier the other 2 phones are worth about $250 each so that's about $800 if his friend is willing to buy it I say go for it.. sell the other phones get a factory unlocked i4. :D

I would say do it since you are not using it...
why is this in the iphone hack section though?;)

The ip4 can't make use of the ipad bb method. It only applies to 3G and 3Gs.
