People are assuming the different collections would cost different. My concern here is that Apple doesn't really sell complexity.

My thoughts are the Apple Watch and Apple Watch Sport sell for $349 w/ a choice of your band. Or maybe the Apple watch sells for 500. The Apple Watch edition sells for a fixed $X,000 w/ a choice of your band.

Then the extra straps for an Apple Watch or Apple Watch Sport would sell for individual prices depending on the materials used but generally go between only a few price-points so that the consumer doesn't have to add up $$ and get confused or annoyed.

I don't have any reason to believe Apple would try hundreds of different pricings. Everyone today KNOWS the iPhone costs 199 then 100 more per storage tier. I don't know, just the whole speculation of the sport costing less than the apple watch and then the bands costing certain amounts just seems silly.

Hard to say because Apple has never sold anything with this many options. But I would like to point out that they *do* charge an extra $100 to go from the 6 to the 6 Plus. Yeah, it's an upgrade. But so is going from aluminum with gorilla glass to stainless steel with sapphire glass.

The difference between 38 and 42mm is just that; size. Unless they release more info that the bigger model has more features, it would be foolish for them to sell the *slightly* bigger model for 50 or 100 more.

Right... I don't know. People are speculating such a wide variety of pricing, I'm just getting a little nervous that there won't be a "fixed" and "recognizable" price for the watches.

1) The Watch cannot be purchased without a strap. The cheapest off-the-peg $349 Watch Sport will come with the cheapest tier of bands.

2) A 'custom build' Watch Sport only will be $300, with the compulsory bands starting at $49.

3) The 38mm/42mm Watch Sports will be the same price.

4) Ditto the Watches.

5) But not the Watch Editions, because precious metals and stuff.

6) I have absolutely no factual basis for any of this.

Perhaps to make it simple for buyers Apple won't price each different strap differently.

They may have say Basic, Standard and Deluxe Straps & Pricing.

Let's say $49, $149, $199 Just for example.

So there are not a million different price combinations.

3 prices for the Watch itself and 3 prices for the bands.

They "could" have decided to do something like this to keep it simple.

I hope the vast majority of bands will be supported by the Sport Edition, I also hope the stainless steel (WATCH) edition will be cheaper then I suspect.

if Apple wants to sell many millions of them (which they project), then need to be within reach price wise. I think SS will be a mild upgrade $150ish

I wasn't comparing the sizes, I was comparing the different models (Sport vs Stainless). That's what OP was talking about.

I agree. I don't see the stainless being twice as much as the Sport, like Gruber said. I'm thinking the Sport will be $349 and the Stainless will be more like $499.

Yes! For the Sport and Stainless, I've been thinking very similar to what you shared.
I think the Edition will go higher than you suggested, but all of your estimates (Edition included) seem very realistic.

I hope you're close!

FWIW, my guess is approx. $750 for the basic SS watch, up to $1000 for the link bracelet in space black.

I think it's possible that no price for the Edition will be publicly revealed. If you have to ask...

It doesn't need to be that complicated. There are three major price points, each with two sizes. I doubt they go beyond that, i.e., charging more for space black. Everything else is accessories. Customers will grasp this. I'll be very surprised if there are multiple band options for non BTO stock. Some may even be Apple store exclusive like (PRODUCT)RED used to be.

I think $1000 will be tuff to sell a stainless steel watch, if the sports band starts at $349, i could not see such a jump to stainless steel to $750, maybe $750 for the high end of the Apple Watch collection.

I kind of hope you're right, it would mean I could probably get the stainless steel if I wanted. As it is, I really do think I'll be getting the Sport.
