A sort of "meta-commentary" seems in its place here: It's no mere coincidence that the number of threads and posts about cases and external keyboards for the iPad is reaching the sky: That points at the importance of these spesific items for daily use of the iPad, and I also thinks that it points at there is in fact just what the iPad as a tablet are missing: Something to protect it (unlike the laptop which protect itself some of the way, at least) and something really useful/productive to use for data input. The iPad by itself doesn't give to all you need.
Perhaps this is the most exciting challenge of the next model? (So one doesn't have to rely on 3rd party items.)
