Resolved About This Mac shows incorrect info

Bought a new MacBook on Craigslist and the "About This Mac" simply shows "MacBook" instead of "MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, 2017)".

What gives?

The CPU and Graphics chip reported in the System Report do conform to the 2017 model.

Well FWIW a day later now and it's showing the right information. Case closed!

FYI the first time About This Mac is opened - whether that be because it's a brand new Mac or because macOS has been reinstalled - it will query an Apple server with the last four digits of your serial number and return the exact model name. If you're not connected to the internet it will just say "MacBook" or "MacBook Pro" etc. until it can connect.
