So the time has finally come after many years of waiting, I purchased a G5 Quad. Blew $150 shipped on it but the case is in excellent shape although just 3 weeks ago I picked up my Mac Pro 1,1 for $150 as well. Second dual core machine, last one I owned was a 2GHz DC but sold it not too long after. I plan to replace my failing MDD at work with this quad so I can have a decent PPC machine to make projects with and (finally) finish that icon theme pack.

Anyway should be pretty neat, the guy was asking for more and got it for a little less since he recognised the PowerPC Archive and personally uses it so I think that helped me out a bit.

Case appears to be in excellent shape too which is super cool! I'll be getting this thing probably Monday next week so a bit of a wait but it's paid for and I know it's mine.

Power Mac G5
4x 2.5GHz PPC G5
4GB DDR2 (2x2GB) RAM
250GB Hard Drive
Nvidia GeForce 6600 256MB
OS X Leopard 10.5.8

Nice! I'm still waiting a bit for them to fall in prices, they still ask around €100 for single or dual models, I really don't want to spend that much. Still, such a sexy machine, quite hard to resist!

Make sure the seller packages it correctly! Mine was damaged in shipping, but it's a prototype Quad so I wasn't going to return it!

I was lucky to pick up a 1.8 GHz single PowerMac G5 with it's original box. Although it's a pain to store in a small apartment I won't be throwing it out!

Nice find @gavinstubbs09, hope it arrives in top condition without damage!

Thanks guys!

Should be receiving it on Monday, supposedly has an issue where sometimes it will boot and other times it will turn on with no video. Really hoping it is something simple like RAM. Look forward to using it!

Anyone with one - how do you like it? Does it handle everything excellent? I want to RAID0 some WD Black HDDs, max the ram, and possibly flash a PC nvidia card for it. Wouldn't mind trying it out to replace my hackintosh for a bit :) My 2.3 Early 05 tends to lag quite a bit in TenFourFox just trying to load Google search results but plays 1080p in VLC without skipping a beat.

Already have for it: 8GB of RAM on top of the 4GB already in it, and a brand new 500GB WD Black.

I really like my G5 quad, serves my meager needs very well.
It boots and runs from 2 SSDs in a raid0 setup, plus I upgraded the video card to a Quadro FX 4500.

I'm on my 2nd Quad - what amazes me about this one, is how quiet it is - even under full stress. However, fitting a Quadro FX 4500 has gone and spoiled that - it's fan is audible all the time and when it can use OpenGL it really cranks up. If you want quiet, only choose a GPU with heatsink cooling (the Quadro has made no visible performance improvements to my setup).
The Quad comes into it's own on multitasking - you know you've got it covered with 4 cores blasting away and like you say, video playback is no problem...4K on a PowerPC :)
Shipping these things is a nightmare - mine was in pristine condition, until UPS clobbered it - arriving with the usual horror of bent handles. Luckily a 50% refund from the seller cushioned the blow but it would've been nice to have a showroom quality machine.

It seems that with any aluminum case whether a G5 tower or MP tower, there is always come apprehension on the receiver's part wondering if the shipper packaged the tower so that the computer, specifically the handles, won't take a beating. All three of my aluminum towers did not come with their original packaging from Apple so I had to wait with apprehension each time hoping that my towers would arrive in perfect shape. So far I have been lucky :)

I actually have one of those cards on my watch list, I may have to jump on it!!

I unfortunately haven't been so lucky. 3 of the 6 G5s I have owned ended up with bent legs. I've had much better luck with the MPs I've owned, so I hope for the best when I receive mine tomorrow! These I guess way 45lbs or so, FedEx says the box weighs 57 pounds so I am hoping for good luck! That and I live in the same state but way north, hopefully traveling through California's central valley won't harm it :)

Hopefully things will end well for you and your Quad G5 will be in perfect shape! :)
