About to buy an iPhone 4 ... am I an idiot?

You are not an idiot for getting the iphone 4 as it really is a GREAT phone but you are abit silly to get it NOW...
Hell even waiting a few weeks and you could get the 4 even cheaper when the 5 is released.

I'm surviving the next month with my 2-year-old Env3. It shuts off by itself, it lags, and the battery lasts a day on standby. I feel ya TC but if you have any financial sense you'll wait. I can't believe you'd drop $350 just to have a smartphone for a month...clearly you've never been poor. Even if you have an income that lets you splurge on things, save your money, what the hell?

...and with that, you're no longer an idiot.
It should be a decent enough phone to get you by until the latest and greatest are announced... and being out $20 (although I'm sure you'd be able to resell it for the same or more later) is much better then being out a hundred or two.
If you can sell it back on CL for the same amount or higher value that what you buy it for, maybe not.
Buying phones from CL is almost like a free rental. iPhones have the best resell value on there.
But if the value happens to drop by over $100 by next Jan, then yeah, you will look like an idiot. You could have just WAITED another month. How hard is that really? Get a cheap smartphone for under $130 if you had to. Even a cheap iPhone 2G or 3G would have been sufficient for another month or so. It isn't that hard as long as you have Wi-Fi and it has the essential apps you need to check on.
It all depends on what you do after you are done with the iPhone 4. I really can't say because Craigslist is based on people who buy and then resell those same phones for a profit or break-even point.

Hell, no offense to anyone else, but if u plan on waiting til January to get a 5, and u can't use the go phone for another second, just buy it. You will still be able to get close to $300 for a "mint" iPhone 4 then. Bottom line is no matter what the new one is the 4 is one of the most premium looking phones EVER made.
