Interestingly, I took your advice and used a spring out of a "Zebra" Z-Grip pen (which is slightly smaller - maybe 4.75mm thus tighter) and now have excellent signal to about 20 feet (!!) which will suit my needs very well. That is hilarious to me. Same basic design, just a tighter spring & straightened wire. In order to get the spring into the outer ring of the port, I had to "screw" or rotate it in. Then it was just a matter of running the paperclip/coil bit through the spring until it seated making solid contact with the BT port's central gold pin).

Also, I apologize for taking this thread way off topic. I know that is annoying to many on MRF. Still, it's on here now, so if anyone (MRFer or random googler alike) is in a pinch and needs PMG5 BT connectivity, they'll find the how-to right here.
