About to Install Windows XP Pro

I'm about to install Windows XP Pro on my Mac Pro running 10.5 using Bootcamp.

My boot drive is partitioned, so Bootcamp would not install on a partition drive. My question is, can I clone by boot partition into a spare drive, then reformat my original boot drive and clone it back?

Yes,
Use CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper to make a 1:1 copy of your Mac OS X installation / HFS+ (Mac OS Extended) formatted volume.
