Is it worth the extra $500.00 to get the 2.5GHz model with the 512MB Video Card ? or just got with the base model ?

i personally don't think it is worth it. im not sure if you need the extra 50 gb hard drive but the cache increase doesn't really make a difference (sorry, i can't find the benchmarks anymore). The cache will only make a difference when doing certain tasks. Also, more vram doesnt necessarily mean the card is better. Take the $500 and buy ram and an apple remote!

the 50 gb larger doesn't really matter because I would get the 7200rpm.

I ordered the base with the 7200 and I'm going to get 4 gigs of ram from crucial. I wanted a bigger screen and better graphics than the blackbook.

If you want to spend the money I think its a good upgrade becuase of the cache but its not that noticible.

Also the 512 8600 will only give you a few more frames per second in things like games.

I'm the kind of guy who nearly always springs for the best when it comes to my mac, and I didn't even think the $500 was justified... Instead, I paid extra to get a 7200rpm drive and I ordered 4GB of RAM from OWC.

It really depends what you want to use it for. If you said to me, "I'd really like to run Crysis under bootcamp" or "I do heavy 3d video editing" then I'd say go for the higher end. In all other cases, I'd say get the lower end :D
