Absolute macbook pro newbie, help me with problem

Hello everyone

Searched google for macbook forums and this was the very 1st to show in the results 😀

Anyway here it goes

A friend of mine left his MBP under my he said that if i want to watch a movie or two just wiggle the mouse pad. So after a while i wiggled it but only the keyboard lights up but nothing on screen, just simply off. i push the keys nothing happens, i try to touch the mouse pad and still nothing happense, i tap the power button nothing happens, i push alt+ tab nothing happens. So to me it "hanged" so i pressed the power button for 10 seconds then it powered off.

So now i powered it up again, i see a white screen with apple logo with a loading sign animating. THen i see the purple clouds wallpaper and the mouse pointer then... NOTHING more... nothing else... no task bar, no windows, no login screen, nothing... But when i push the buttons there is a sound bing played like a drum, but still doesnt show anything.

Can any1 here help me? What's happening? 😕

Sounds like some system file is corrupted. Those steps should fix it

Yeah but try the troubleshooting steps in that guide. E.g. Safe Boot

Do a safe boot or repair startup disk using os x install dvd.
