Seriously. Itunes/Music has been the spoiler of my enjoyment of music on my iMacs, iPhones, iPads for years. The interface is awful, adding music is just awful, it is just a colossal pain in the a**. I know dozens of Apple users who feel the same way. Grrrrr.

I don't care for the pushing of Apple Music. I just wanted a simple MP3 player for my iTunes library with the Music App.

I just use Spotify and stopped using Apple Music and iTunes. My biggest gripe about the Apple Music App. I just have two songs in it. When I get in my car sometimes they start auto playing instead of Spotify. Even though I only listen to Spotify now. So, I have to switch to Spotify.

I've used iTunes-now-Apple-Music since it launched way back in '01, I've only had a few issues with it...
  • Upgrading tracks to iTunes Plus (ca. '08) was a mess.
  •  Music sometimes likes to re-assign some tracks to different albums from time to time; however, it's always  Music tracks but never ripped or purchased ones.
  • Dolby/Spatial Audio was a bit glitchy at first, especially
Otherwise, with over 7k tracks in my library,  Music hasn't skipped a beat. I ripped the last of a a few CDs we pulled out of storage a few weeks ago (ala Apple USB Super Drive via M1 Mac mini), and they all went in without a hitch. Normally, I don't rip lossless unless it's jazz, classical, or a live album so nearly all of the tracks went in as iTunes Plus (i.e., 256kpbs).

If you're still having trouble using Apple Music, trash the preference file, create a new library, import your tracks, and start over.

iTunes was horrible a few years before it was EOL due to how much stuff they crammed into the single application. I find Music to be great though.

I still HATE iTunes on Windows. Even a $2,500 computer lags and struggles with it.

I have used iTunes and now Apple Music for many years and, touch wood, with very minimal issues and certainly far less since there was some cleanup into Apple Music. But I do agree that the interface is not always intuitive and can be frustrating. But no issues with playing music from quite a large library of ripped CDs, digital purchases or now Apple Music access.

I've never had many issues with iTunes except on Windows, and I've gotten too used to most of the features to switch. Smart Playlists and track/album star ratings are pretty important to how I organize my music, and I haven't seen features like that in the other music players I've looked at.

Yeah, iTunes/Music is pretty bad. I thought Apple's Podcasts app was bad, but every time I launch Music on my Mac, I'm reminded of how truly horrible that piece of junk is. While Podcasts makes it extremely difficult to do what it solely exists to do, Music suffers the same problem and so much more.

Music.app is a huge improvement over iTunes but it just completely lacks refinement.

As with most Apple products, anything that makes use of the network is a frustrating mess. Remote pages take an unreasonable amount of time to load. If you click Search, it starts loading the "browse categories" page and you will have to search a second time if you typed your search terms before that finished loading.

AirPlay is fantastic once it starts working. Getting connected initially is a nightmare. Sometimes speakers don't show up for a while, or they rearrange order while I am making a selection. There is still far too much "blocking" in the UI where a popup box will disable the rest of the Music UI while, eg, AirPlay is connecting.

On the touchbar (lol) the controls are sometimes on the right side of the strip, other times on the left side of the strip. Thankfully the fix seems to be getting rid of the touchbar, which is better!

I think discoverability for new music on Apple Music is just ok, not amazing. But, if you find something that you actually like, adding it to your library stops playback. Infuriating!

All I want from a music app is the ability to easily download and store tunes on a phone, ipad or full computer, the ability to easily put together playlists, and the ability to easily play those tunes. iTunes and its successor Music does none of these.

Not sure what you're having so much trouble with. iTunes is more than capable of all of that and it's not difficult. Not sure about Music since I've never used it.

Not sure what all the fuss is. I use an external tag editor to easily batch edit the mp3 metadata of music I want to add to my library, then I simply drag those tracks/folders into Music and I'm done. Not sure how it could be simpler 🤷‍♂️

Haven't used Music since it was iTunes.

I plugged in a new iPhone to my old MacBookPro. What should happen is an easy interface to copy files from my iPhone to my Mac. The iPhone should show up as an external hard drive. But no. That would be too easy.

I have to use Photos for photos, and Music for music.

And Music wants to wipe out my phone's entire library before it allows me to copy 5 songs from my computer. WTF? I wouldn't mind if it was erasing that dreadful U2 album, but it wants to erase everything and then sync everything.
