So, I have a G-Tech Mini drive that typically operates on Bus Power from an external enclosure. Normally I have the MBP plugged into this enclosure and daisy chain to this drive and everything is good. However I recently added a NewerTech Voyager Q to the mix and whilst it has two FW800 ports it doesn't provide bus power to anything hanging off it. So unless I'm mistaken I'm pretty much stuck if I want access to the NewerTech Voyager Q and the G-Tech Mini drive at all times. So I need to shell out $20 to purchase the AC Adapter that goes with the G-Tech Mini drive. Anybody know of the Nokia Phone chargers will work as a substitute as I have two of those laying around but I don't know if the polarity is compatible or not.

I realize your post is several years old, but thought I'd give it a go anyway...

Did you ever find out about the polarity or buy a G-tech AC adapter?
I'm also having Firewire trouble with my G-Drive Mini and have several 12V AC adapters but don't know the polarity of the drive.

This is relatively ez to figure out if you have an ohm meter, cheap one under $10 bux will do, good for other tasks too, so not like one-use tool.
