I was thinking of sharing a computer with my sister-in-law who is a student - if I buy the computer in her name - and then I want to get it serviced, or go to the mac store and she is unable to go - will I be able to take there by myself?
Or if after a year she gives it to me and it is still under warranty or has a service plan - will I then be able to take it to a mac store to get repaired or to call and get technical support?

    Any responses would be appreciated.

i read about this when i made a trade (my PB for this MB) that had already been registered. from what i read, any support will just ask you for the serial number and go off of that (ie, how much warranty is left) - not who it's registered to. i suppose this would obviously be different if the laptop had been reported as stolen, but if everything checked out, then they wouldn't be concerned.

what he says is right, however you might get in a hassle of whos computer it is when you try to get it serviced. Apple will not fix any stolen computers (atleast it has been said).

This, of course, will not be a problem since you could produce the person whose name is on it if you absolutely had to.

This would seem to be about right. :)
