Memory and processing speed are apparently increasing exponentially, so tomorrow's phones etc will be faster and faster.

But are there unbreakable limits with how fast an accelerometer can report orientation, and how fast a magnetometer direction?
If they are inevitably slow, it seems that would be an annoying limiting factor.

It mostly depends on the sensitivity of the accelerometer/magnetometer. The more sensitive the "faster" it would appear to be.
