Is there a program available that will allow me to access and view a Mac while away from it? I'm trying to set up a desktop Mac for my parents who are just getting into using the computer, and they still require help every now and then. I live in a different town and it would be nice to be able to login, see what they're viewing and troubleshoot any problems that they're encountering.

Apple includes something called Apple Remote Desktop, which is basically a VNC server. On their computer, go to System Preferences --> Sharing, open the padlock if it's closed, and check Remote Management. Change the settings/allowed users if you want, and forward UDP port 3283 on their router.

To connect, open Finder on your computer, and from the Go menu, hit Connect to Server and enter their IP address.
