Access iPhone Private Folders

Hello,

I'm in the process of writing an application to access the private folder "private/var/root/..." on an iPhone. I know there are plenty of apps out there that give you access to this root folder if and only if the iPhone is jailbroken.

Is there a way to access the folder using iOS' sdk? My application is for in-house and personal use so it does not require Apple's approval.
