Dear All
My western digital external drive is formatted ntfs. I want to format it to use for time machine. When I to to disk utilities and try to partition the drive I am not allowed to partition it at all. I did try some procedure through terminal to allow me to copy or delete on an ntfs drive. I thought this would give me access to it - but it didnt work. I check through 'get into' that I only have 'read' access to the drive. I dont understand this. Can someone please assist me.
Thank you

You'll want to use th Erase feature of Disk Utility and change the partition format to Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
