    Hi all,

I've been having some serious problems with my iMac and have managed to boot off an external hard drive.

Unfortunately now I cannot access my files stored on the internal HD, all of the user folders state I have no access to their contents.

It states that one user does have access but I am unsure how to logon as this person (I know all of the passwords for all users on the machine, just can't find a place to open a folder as a particular user)

I hope I'm making myself clear, if you didn't get any of that then say and I'll try to explain again.

    Thanks
    Oli

Do Get Info on the folders, and it will you the user and the groups that own it and what permissions they have.

If you login using the external boot as that specific user, you can get to those folders.

The problem is that the only user it says has access is a sharing account on sys prefs

Is there anyway of logging on as a superuser / root and copying the files from there before wiping and starting again?
