Accessing pictures on old iPhone 3G/3GS with unknown PIN

I can't tell exactly what OS this phone has, but i would say it's safe to assume that it's the latest that it could have had, which would be iOS 6.1.6. It is owned by my client and I'm trying to extract his pictures and the phone is in "disabled, connect to iTunes" mode. I have tried to bypass the lock screen using some trick that involves dialing 911 and then canceling it, which didn't work. Does anyone know a method for getting at the pictures on this phone? TIA -
