Hey, I have a 2.0ghz unibody macbook, and instead of getting an air or 2.4ghz macbook, I wanna take real good care of this one. So, what do you recommend I buy for my baby?
Needs/Wants:
-A cool slip case (maybe an apple sac?)
-Upgrade ram (I want good prices)
Any extra accessories that you think are cool or useful, and fit for humid weather in egypt, and the weather of nyc... and something for a rapid and quick pace lifestyle.. so yeah anything you thing is great, thanks =D

*Any accessories to be bought at the apple store are better than online, but both options are open

I <3 my Incase sleeve.

Then again, I also got it for $9.99 instead of $39.99 because of BestBuy's Black Friday sale going BackOrder.

As far as RAM, I think most people around here will agree that Crucial or OWC is the way to go.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5H11 Safari/525.20)

I'd recommend getting an iKlear kit or something similar to keep it shiny clean 🙂

I don't want anything that hinders the look of my macbook (such as hard shells and such), and I don't want extra bulky accessories... so far I am going to purchase the iKlear complete cleaning kit, an applesac and a 4gb ram upgrade... anything else?

A dvi or VGA adapter if you ever need to connect to a monitor, or a projector for presentations.

Thanks for the deal on that ram! OWC's prices are higher now, so this is fine.. all i need is the screwdriver

wait, that ram is 2x1GB DDR3 right? So isn't it the same one as the one that comes with the macbook?

As far as hard drive concerns, I would wait until you really need more space. Hard drive prices drops really quickly. I am using 160GB since october 2008 but I will upgrade when I need more space. I'm thinking of either 320GB hard disk or 256GB SSD. Both will be much cheaper in 6 months (which is when I'll probably be running out of space).

Right now I can really save those spaces for important stuff. I have about 40GB free now.

BTW, does anyone know how we calculate hard disk space for SSD? I notice that in normal HDD, 160GB becomes 141GB, 250GB becomes ~210GB, etc (I know why this happens) but how about SSD?

i know there are some of the speck hard cases in the stores, but i do not know if they have all the colors.

I found a better deal on MyGearStore.com. 20 bucks cheaper. I'm gonna pick up the Speck Case and Moshi Cleargaurd for the same price as the Speck case alone at the Apple Store.

used to be able to stack the coupon codes buddy25 and apple50 on speckproducts.com 50% on top of 25% off. i think buddy25 still works, but your deal is better. just make sure it isnt for the previous gen

Oh wow that is awesome.. I wonder if you can get an HDMI - DVI adapter and have it work...

Do you get sound as well? Or does the macbook not do sound through the mini display port?

The adapter is capable of video and audio, as far as Monoprice says about theirs. However, the Mini DisplayPort on the MacBook does not output sound. I appears not to be a physical limitation, but perhaps a firmware limitation either from NVidia or Apple. This is speculation though.

Other accessories would be a nice set of external speakers (Bose/Harman Kardon for high end, Logitech/Altec Lansing for mid range). I have a Moshi Monde Codex MacBook case and matching Concerti case for my iPhone; Ample protection! A good keyboard/mouse setup is needed eventually. I vote Logitech or Apple. I also like the iSkin Pro Touch silicon keyboard/mouse covers for the Apple KB and mouse (black is nice and would match). Lastly a nice stand would make for a perfect desk setup. I really like either the Logitech Alto Express, or Alto Connect for a built in powered USB hub.

I have a question, do you recommend getting a speck seeThru case or getting an applesac? I cant decide

Exactly right, no sound, just video. Luckily I've got my airport express hooked up to some JBL creatures, I just run all the sound through airfoil.

As far as HDMI to DVI, heres a cable:
