Haha! I don't think I could have been more careful, to be honest. Do you look down at your feet whilst walking along (what should be) a flat pedestrian pavement?

I don't know dude, this is the real world, you can fall for whatever reason with your computer, it would be helpful to look where you walk, especially if you carry a 2000$ computer, maybe an insurance for it would help or i don't know, it's just bad luck

£170 is surprisingly cheap. I thought around £400.. the cost of the unibody case and bottom plate as well as labour to transfer the logic board etc. Maybe they'll just send your case and plate back to where they mould the unibody and melt the whole thing down and create a new case out of it, possibly subsidised!

Hope you gave the post box a right good bollocking.

That's what I thought. The top plate is £170 and the bottom plate is only £7. Couldn't believe that. He said I don't need the bottom plate necessarily, but it only £7 so I'm not bothered if they do need to replace that.

Dropped it off today and was worried there would be more charges added on that perhaps the first genius left out, but the new work authorisation form shows the same cost for the parts.

I'm a little concerned that there isn't an itemised cost for labour on the form, but I guess that's just included in the cost of the parts.

In any case, I'll see in up to 7 days, which is how long the repair could take as they are swamped at the moment apparently.

Bottom case is apparently £60. Can't believe Apple are only charging you £7 for it! I'd expect it to be cheaper since it is Apple repairing it, but not by that much!

Top case is £248.

You got yourself a great deal.. you should ask about it once you've paid and picked up your Mac ;)

Just an update for those still interested. I got the MBP back today (4 days after dropping it off and being quoted 7-10 days for the repair). No hidden costs, and both the top and bottom case have been replaced.

I didn't think to ask why it was so cheap, but delighted to have my MBP back to it's previous stunning condition!

Just checked. Bottom case is 60$. Are Euros = Dollars now? I haven't checked the money market in a while.

Congratulations! That's an incredible deal, £7 for the bottom plate? If Apple didn't replace my Mac last week then I would've paid that LOL! As mine got scratched up by a service provider.. But that is amazing, a huge bit of aluminium (top case) for £170? Wow..

Glad it all got sorted out for you.
