Accidentally archived mail

I was swiping to the left on mail thinking I was deleting my emails but I realized I was actually archiving them. What does this do, will this take up storage, and how can I delete them if they do?
 
Go to the archive folder and delete them. Archive folder keeps them and removes it from the inbox.
