thanks

Try Fusion or Parallels for your Windows. Parallels 5 runs Windows 7 just fine and is the fastest reviewed right now. Fusion 3 has had some issues since is came out.

If you want something free, go with Virtual Box.

Then you aren't messing around with partitions at all.

Unless you have games, or some device that won't work in a virtual machine, there aren't a lot of reasons to use bootcamp versus virtual, in my opinion.

whoa... OS virtualization is out of my scope of understanding

brb

okay guys, i'm going to do all the things you guys instructed. i'll be back to let you guys know how everything went, wish me luck!!

My husbands coming Friday, so if I get this done before then I won't need to tell him anything, hehe ;)[/QUOTE]

Only if you back up all his data, then you're fine. Just reinstall osx, and migrate his old data.
If you didn't, your husband will know you wipe out his harddrive.

Your husband: Honey where is our sex video we make last week, i can't find it.:D:D

I can't recommend strongly enough to read the instructions provided before installing Windows through Bootcamp.

I Did It!!!!

hey everyone!!!

just finished installing back everything and looks like its back to normal :):) even his bookmarks are saved!!!!! tried to connect to time capsule wirelessly during the osx install but for some reason it wouldn't connect so I physically connected it with a weird looking wire (i think firewire) and now everythings back!!!

i'd like to thank everyone on this forum thread who helped me out with this issue, tremendous help!!!! now I can get my nails done without feeling guilty :)

Well, this is a great opportunity to learn from your mistakes. ;)

Download a trial, there are wizards to walk you right through installing Windows. It's much easier, and safer than what you were trying to do.

Congratulations.
If you still want Windows go to Apple.com and download the Bootcamp download the helpful pdf guide here and follow the steps as they appear, you can't go wrong.

But how do I do that? I have the reinstall DVDs and the upgrade DVD to Snow Leopard. I just don't know how to install? Do I just pop in the DVD of OSX and follow on from there?

Except that all of his personal files and documents and addresses etc. are now gone.
And also all of the other software that was installed on it is now gone.
And if it was some Adobe software that required activation and you did not deactivate it before wiping it out then it will want to know why and you'll have to reactivate it over the phone.

I think you might've missed the part about her husband having a Time Capsule...

It's over and done with, now, Luis. Problem has been solved, and dirtyblond is out getting her nails done.

...

best piece of advice is get the **** away from his computer and let him fix it. Obviously you have no idea what you are doing and messed it up, let him fix it before you mess it up even more

I just found this thread realized what a great object lesson it is to teach the importance of regular automatic backups with Time Machine. From what you said, I gather that once you connected to the Time Capsule you were able to open Time Machine and restore all of your husband's configuration settings and data from there. Assuming that your husband's backups were up to date, you have recovered from your disaster. Congratulations!

am i the only one who finds her username absolutely hellarious?:D:D:D:D:D:D
Although I can't be certain, I am reasonably confident that the OP's user name, dirtyblond, refers only to her hair color and not to either her personal hygiene or conduct.:)

I always amazes me the number of users who just post randomly in a thread without bothering to actually read it
