I'm so sorry if this thread is already around but i didnt think this would be a particularly common problem as it was so stupid of me! :/

I accidentally closed my macbook pro 13" lid when some blu tac got stuck where the mic is and thus must have blocked it when i removed the majority. So now it does not pick up sound unless it is loud and right next to the mic input.
Does anyone know the best way to get it out? or am i going to have to pay for apple to dismantle my laptop and prod it out? :p

stupid mistake and im sure you will all say "take better care in future" :p but any help or advise would be greatly appreciated!

many thanks

bluetack sticks to bluetack

ok this is going to sound odd for you but it works
use bluetack to remove the bluetack get a decent sized blob of bluetack and dab over the stuck bluetack like you would if you were trying to pick up seeds and eventually it will pull out the stuck bluetack just make sure you don't push more in the mic hole

cheers

Be careful, but this is probably your best option

Thanks very much guys :)
yeah i think that is probably the best option, also if that fails do any of you know what is directly below the mic holes? eg is the mic, which im assuming i a fairly sensitive piece of hardware, directly underneath?

thanks again :)

sorted!

I used the fight fire with fire idea and it pretty much worked maybe leaving some slight residue but the mic sounds great again so thank you all for the advice! :)
