Accidentally turned on "Do Not Disturb" for Android contact - will I get their text?

I was texting someone who has an Android phone and noticed the crescent moon icon next to their name in my threads. I turned off the "Do Not Disturb" option but I'm concerned that they may have texted me back and I didn't get it.

Is this possible?

If they already texted you and it was blocked there's no way to get that message now.

Ignore the reply above, DND is not the same as blocking. The only thing that'll happen is that you won't get a notification, i.e. you won't get disturbed. The text will still arrive and be visible in the app, you just won't hear it coming in.

My mistake, I thought it worked like block caller.
