Accidently deleted/replaced a file on my macbook

Today I accidently moved a project I'd been working on from my flash drive to my desktop, I already had a folder of the same name on my desktop and when I merged it, it overwrote the old file and my project is totally gone. Is there any way of undoing this or recovering my work. Please Help!

Time Machine backup?

Do you have Time Machine setup? Or another backup of your work? If so you could just bring the file back from the backup.
