My parents purchased a second hand iMac as they were impressed with the current one that I have, but upon trying to login to iCloud there greeted with the message:

'Account Limit Reached. This device is no longer eligible for creating an Apple ID.'

I have searched the forums for a solution and checked there serial number was in place, which it is. I was wondering if there were any solutions to this or does it apply as in the iTunes store of waiting 90 days for previous downloads etc?

    Thanks

    Phone Apple

And get the iTunes section. It's clear that the previous owner left behind there account details. I would recommend a re-install of the OS too (if you have the disks)

    Thanks for the swift reply,

I installed Lion for my parents so they had a clean and new computer ready for use, so there is no information stored on the Mac, there just trying to login to iCloud. The iTunes store works fine as does iChat and FaceTime. Its just the iCloud service itself that will not let them access it.

    Thanks again

    Then Apple

Is your port of call. Explain that you bought the computer secondhand and you need to delete the authorisation on the old users account and then create your own.

They are really good and won't bite!

The guy from Apple seemed confused himself, as if he has never heard of the issue before. He basically referred me through the ExpressLane support, so I have now emailed iTunes as they apparently deal with everything AppleID etc.

I'm quite curious about iPod touch that I'm having a problem with "Account Limit Reached" & "Cannot Sign In - maximum number of free accounts has been activated on this iPod touch."

Anyone know how to fix this?

Try logging into your iTunes store account (thru iTunes) then de-activate all computers / devices. Then add them back in as needed.
