Account name in menu bar

How do you remove the account name from the menu bar? I don't need it and it is just taking up space!

Command-drag it off.

In SL this is for fast user switching. System Preferences > Accounts > Login Options > "[x] Show fast user switching menu as: Name | Short name | Icon"
