I can't think of a reason not to have the nexus except the fact that all my apple devices work together well. I use Apple TV and AirPlay a lot, just easier for idevices

Eh I like AirPlay but I don't consider that a selling point since my iMac, MBP, and phone all support it.

Your definition of "unbiased" is very skewed. To the point where I'm not sure if just trolling.

Ultimately, it's all relative. How are the Maps, YouTube, and Gmail experiences looking on the iPad these days? And how's that giant grid of static icons -- a stretched-out version of the smartphone, one might say -- working as a home screen compared to the customizable array of resizable, interactive widgets that Android tablet users enjoy?

and that the Nexus 7 packs a cutting-edge quad-core processor while the iPad Mini is using last year's dual-core A5 model

Good grief, this has been explained and proven not to mean better performance...The fact it was even mentioned tells me the author needs to learn a bit more before writing more articles...Same thing sg3 fandroids were saying about about the iphone 5 new dual core processor, then the benchmarks come out and the sg3 was behind everywhere by a good margin.

Almost the same, I had a Nexus 7 when they launched and sold it quite quickly, just found the actually handling inferior and difficult to use for text input and editing.

It got sold, and I've been using my "big" iPad in anticipation of the mini's arrival.

To me, there is no real comparison.

I kept mine. I think it's a really impressive device, especially for the price. I found myself using it quite a bit for the first couple of weeks, and then I kept going back to my iPad. I just find Android to be clunky and much harder to get things done with. And I don't care what anybody says, the apps are just not there yet.

What about his statement was untrue? Just because not everything he said about Apple in a positive manner doesn't mean it's biased. If you believe that, it makes you biased. Also, please don't be "one of those people" that thinks everybody that isn't fully supporting everything Apple does a "troll".

I'm not one of those people that label every product they own in their signature, but if you must know.. I've owned every iPad model, every iPhone model, about 5 different iPods, I am currently using a 2011 iMac and am typing this on a 15" rMBP. I am not "anti-Apple". I actually really like the design of the iPad Mini and I'm really happy they kept the 4:3 aspect ratio. I'm not really happy about the internals and the screen. I could live with the A5 processor but I was really hoping for a Retina display.. then again, if they added the Retina display.. they'd need an A5X chipset to push the screen.

Will I buy an iPad Mini? Maybe. I really want to look at the display first and see first hand how the screen looks. We have an iPad 2 here in the house and after getting use to retina iPads and this MacBook.. that iPad 2's screen looks very ugly to me. It is 132 ppi though vs the iPad Mini's 164 ppi.

The article nor me said the iPad Mini "sucks" it's more focused on the fact that the Nexus 7 definitely holds it's own against the iPad Mini. Especially with the 16GB N7 dropping to $199 and a 32GB model coming in at $249.

I think it's pretty clear that the mini is a stop gap product. Put out before Xmas and cheaper than the full size.

Next year, we're probably going to see a mini retina with A6 at the same ballpark price.

I think it says "wait 6 months..."

However I do fully agree with the $100/8G memory step. memory is cheap, add more or up the value a bit.
