It's copyright protection that must be present in the OS, the GPU, the monitor, and must be sent over either an HDMI or DVI cable, otherwise HD media will either not play at all or play at a lower resolution.

But maybe if the computer was old it wouldn't fulfill those criteria anyway, no?

no because playing HD videos requires a fairly strong processor (1.6GHz dual-core at least or like 3GHz Pentium 4) and a recent video card

so there are systems that don't comply th HCDP specs but have the ability/power to play HD?

That's kind of what we're saying. HDCP is requiring many people to buy completely new computers (PC people, as well) to play HD DVDs and Blu-ray on a computer.

You just can't do it in OS X because the OS doesn't support it. You can't do it with a full Apple-branded setup because the OS and then displays don't support it.

So your saying that if i buy a new Mpro with ACD or EIZO display i wont be able to watch HD movies?

Sure, for Windows. But that's meaningless, since Macs can already play them in Windows.
but say that i dont want to have mac to dual boot into windows and osx, say im a hard core OSX guy, cant i go round this in OSX?

Another thing about the ACDs, why get one when other company displays have better specs? Example, the response time in ADS is huge, also the image contrast or brightness are at very low levels for the ACDS.
Why get an ACD?

Response times are important for gamers and watching high definition movies. None of which Apple users are supposed to want to do. These aren't toys, you know. ACDs will be updated 2012 :D

Well neither do Eizo users want those games or HD movie specs but EIZO displays already have such specs! :D

They have bigger response times because they're s-ips panels rather than the (cheaper) TN.
It all depends on your definition of "better specs" - if you want to play games extensively then there are probably panels that are better suited to that. If you are a user that requires accurate color reproduction, then the ACDs have "better specs" than fast TN panel displays
