Hi All,

I know, I know I should not be as upset as I am. Yes, I am a sucker and like to do my rings and the challenges. Most here find them not a big deal or not real data, it motivates me and gives me a jolt of happiness so let me have it in this world we live in. But here is my issue. I knew there was a national park challenge today. So I did my 20 minute walk. I didn't immediately get my notification. No big deal. I check under activity history and don't see a badge listed. Weird but OK. I check the challenge dates and conditions all fulfilled. Now I look on the phone and I cannot find ANY special edition badges. No earth day or walks or heart challenges for this or any past year. I go back to the run challenge on 6/3/2026. I find the run I did. It has a 10k badge BUT no specialty badges. My favorite aspect actually is the stickers that I use a fair bit in messages (activity stickers). They are ALL gone.

Nothing special has happened recently, same phone, same watch. Everything seems to work without a problem. Any clue what I could do? Any way to retrieve them?

And yes I have bigger problems in my life but this one is really bumming me out. So any thoughts on how I can get todays badge but much more importantly my past ones would mean alot.

Thanks,
Philly

PS: and again I do know how ridiculous this will be to most of you.

quick tech update. iPhone is on newest iOS 26, the watch is as well. I have restarted both multiple times. I did not unpair/repair my watch since that screwed me once before. I have checked both the watch and iphone neither show any of my previous achievements. They do show monthly and weekly challenges etc. The activity history is correct just the badges etc are missing.

hi

i don't think its ridiculous at all.
these badges are stunning and its always fun to go back and look at them from time to time.

i seem to remember others from time to time reporting such a glitch. and from what i remember, they haven't been able to get them back. even doing a backup from an iCloud backup. the badges seem to not be included.

as you pointed out, i don't think the problem happening on the same day as the national park badge day was coincidental. maybe the updating moment had a problem which resulted in all of them not being able to load.
maybe the next time there is a special badge it will update correctly and smooth out the problem and they will all come back. or even when iOS27 comes out it may help to restore.

Thank you I appreciate the kind words. No I'm confident it didn't happen today and I did the run badge but not the yoga so probably on one of the recent updates. You are right, possibly I get them back on ios 27. I'll post later at apple.com see if anyone there has some unlikely fix.

Thanks for the encouragement and reply. It should be part of the backup. Why wouldn't it be 🙁 ? The 10KB it would use ?

Has happened before to others, several threads in the AW forum.
Most of the time they reappear after a few days, these badges as well as all your activity data is part of the health data that is synced to iCloud, unless you specifically turned that off.
Some folks have logged out and religiously to iCloud, for some that worked.
I suggest to be patient for a few days.

And do not try to restore from any backup, that might mix up the iCloud sync

Many moons ago I lost like three years’ worth of activity data when reverting to release software from a beta. I was absolutely gutted and went about a year and a half wearing mechanical watches before slinking back and starting over.

I wish I could offer a solution but the best I can do is empathy. Hope they come back for you.

Thanks for the info, I'll check it out. I wasn't quite sure where to post and thought iOS might do the trick since I thought it might be the iOS update. I was holding off on restoring since I do NOT like that I cannot see if Apple Watch backs up. They tell you that when you unpair it backs up. Well.... For me it once did NOT.

Yeah, I have my mechanical watches as well but seeing at a glance my texts and my fitness keeps the AW as my primary 🙂 ... Hopefully they come back. I know they are linked but I could give up the badges (reluctantly), the cute fitness stickers are what I'm the real SUCKER for. Apple hides them pretty well nowadays so most probably never know.

I have ZERO graphical skills but that would be my dream apple designer job. I make apple doodles for a living. Just seems like a fun, friendly job. We need more happiness in the world.

Thank you for the feedback everyone, have a great start to the week.

That is correct, AW gets backed up as part of the un-pair process, and that's the only way.

But as I said, the activity and health data gets synced to iPhone and then to iCloud. On your phone, check your iCloud settings and see if Health is turned ON. It is by default but can be turned off

I checked the settings (and I do muck around there so good thought). Yes both health and fitness are synced to the cloud. there is also Fitness+ which is not (since I don't subscribe). I would assume fitness would be the data that would need to be synced? Health I know is weirdly the main repository. Why the iPad fitness app STILL cannot at least show badges and history only apple knows. I'm sure it is to make more money off of phone and watch 😉

Don't feel silly at all—gamifying fitness works, and losing progress you worked hard for super sucks!

This is a known issue that pops up on iOS every now and then. Your actual achievement data is still safely stored in your Health database; the Fitness app just lost the link to the badge graphics. Try restarting both your phone and watch, or toggling Bluetooth off and on. In 99% of cases, the app re-indexes after a day or two and all your limited-edition badges and stickers return. Hang in there!
