Running CS4 with Acrobat Pro 9 and after the recent Acrobat update my computer is now prompting me for my password anytime I launch Acrobat and/or open a PDF. Anyone else experience this or have any ideas on resolving it? No other Adobe apps in my CS4 are affected.

    Thanks!

The password request dialog box will open when you attempt to open a password-protected PDF. Having said that, Acrobat may access the Acrobat.com website using your email account as your Adobe ID. You may have only partially setup your access. At any rate, you should check each item in the sidebar of the Acrobat preferences pane.

I have had problems with this update too. But the error message I get is:

"The patch has failed because the application has been modified since it was originally installed (for example, plug-ins may have been disabled). Please go to the Adobe support website for more information regarding how to re-enable disabled components prior to installing the patch. Or, you can uninstall and reinstall the application, and then reinstall the patch."

Of course I have not modified anything. From Photoshop to Acrobat, Adobe makes bloated and expensive software.

Update: The OP gave a poor description of the "problem." What is "my password" afterall. We have many passwords. Acrobat may use several of them. Also, he give no hint about the circumstances that necessitated the password. At any rate, today I opened a scanned letter in PDF format by double-licking on its icon in an Exchange message as accessed by Entourage. Acrobat required my administrative account password. However, after I saved the PDF to an existing folder of my creation, Acrobat no longer required the password.

Allow me to clarify. It's asking for my admin password upon initial launch of Acrobat or the opening of any pdf document. It never did this before the latest update. I'm also getting an invalid password error message as well if I wait too long to enter anything after the prompt. Everything still works if I enter my password, but it's very annoying.

    Same problem here

    Hi Krisjon,
this is a known bug of Acrobat Pro, there are several people having the same issue as well as I do. I'm searching on forums for months now and have tried different workarounds without any result. I'm quiet annoyed too.

There are people that have updated the SelfHealing file with success and other that have made a terminal command but none worked for me.

I'm using Acrobat Pro everyday and it keeps asking my admin password for months now

Adobe Acrobat 9.4.2 has not been the lastest version of Acrobat 9 for quite awhile now. Have you updated to the latest version?
