I have access to work related documents that are distributed in PDF format. For my reference, I like marking them with text highlights. Periodically those documents are updated by distributing new replacement PDFs. I realize I am dealing with reformatted documents so I don't think this is possible, but I'll ask anyway. Is there a way to transfer markups, such as text highlight from one version of a PDF to the next? Because if you can't then there is really is no benefit from having to slog through a new PDF and manually redo the text highlighting you did the first time. Or is there another way to automate highlighting of important text and to be notified of changes in text allowing you to just update the highlights in the sections of the document that has been modified? Hopefully I have been clear in my description. Let me know if not.

Thanks!
