So far just have it set to open the camera. I find it interesting the number of people who keep their phones on silent 24/7. I like hearing my sounds I have set for different ppl when they text

Mute.

Camera is on the Lock Screen and Home Screen so I don’t feel the need to dedicate a button to it. Plus I switch my phone on and off silent mode pretty often, so I like the physical switch rather than using the control center.

This. I don't have issues with accessing the camera quickly. Mute switch is definitely more useful for me. So I suppose the action button won't be getting much action!

Just like the Action Button on my Apple Watch Ultra, I decided it was dumb to limit it to just one action.

I have the actions listed in reverse order of priority, because it turns out with the size of the phone that items farther down the list are easier to get to one-handed.

I used to have all these different ringtones and text tones for people, well, I guess I still do, but I haven’t heard them for years! As soon as I got an Apple Watch (series 4 year), it went on mute, and I haven’t heard a peep since.

It’s so nice, I love not having it beeping and booping all the time. The only noise it makes are from timers and alarms.

This is amazing, can you share how to set this up? And we can do the same thing on the Ultra as well?

Mines always on mute, only needs to vibrate as my Apple Watch tells me who is calling or messaging. Same with my Fold 5. (Obviously not the Apple Watch)

Orientation mode lock for now. I keep it locked most of the time, but need to unlock it to watch videos usually.

If I understood shortcuts better, I would make it send the Yes Chef gif from The Bear to my wife every time I press the button. Would save me a ton of time.
Orientation lock is a good one!

i've kept it on mute switch. i would use it for flashlight or camera but i'm too used to swiping down the notification screen to hit the icons or accessing them from the lock screen. it'd be nice if we could remap those icons... maybe iOS 18

i might mess about with shortcuts to see if i can come up with something cool to map to it.

Erm.

Can you let me know how you set this up? Haha

Really hope that we can eventually program 2-3 actions.

Have currently set it to do nothing. I can toggle Silent Mode in Control Center but I usually have Do Not Disturb on anyway. I might end up configuring the button for a Shortcut.

I already have something I don’t like about the Action Button: it’s too close to the volume buttons and twice already I’ve pressed volume up rather than the Action Button.

I do cycling and pickleball and am regularly checking the weather for the next hours. So, I have the Action Button open the Wunderground app that shows the hourly forecast.
