Activate without SIM?

Hi,

Can I activate my iPhone without a SIM? I want to get the IMEI number off the phone and order a free bumper using the app. The plan is to order the bumper, register the IMEI number with the insurance company and take my current phone away with me, that way, when I return everything is ready to go.

Not at this time. The phone has to be activated with a sim card. That may change soon when the jailbreak/unlock is released.

Yeah, what it get activated is the SIM not the phone itself (On GSM networks). so saying that you can "Activate" the phone without a SIM doesn't make sense.

Even with the new JB to be out soon your phone will need to be officially activated.
No way around it yet.
