So I received my iphone x from att this weekend. It came with a sim card ( so I did not swap from my old iphone6 that I was upgrading from). My 6 has ios 11.2 on it and I did a backup of the 6 and began to activate my X as a new phone. I went through the activation process on att's website, updadated the X to 11.2 and then did the restore. Everything seemed fine, but ive had friends and co workers texting me and then asking why I am not responding. It seems I am not getting the first text message from everybody, but eventually when a second text is sent, I get that one and everything from that point forward is fine. I've tested it a few times today and its the same thing. People send me an initial text and its not being delivered ( even on their phones the "delivered" text does not appear under their message to me). Once a second and different message is sent ot me, I get it and it says "delivered" on their phone.

Any ideas?

I saw one suggestion about the do not disturb feature, but that is not the problem.

Are they sending from Apple or android devices?

It might be worth working out if this is an SMS issue or an iMessage issue.

I would check what phone number is listed in iMessage for you, it could be a temporary number from the new SIM.

good call. All the "first" messages that I have missed were sent from iphones ( iMessage ). Just had a buddy with a Samsung phone text me, and I got his message the first time......

what would be the next step ?
