Activating my unlocked iPhone 6S using a Friend's SIM temporarily

You can buy unused or used SIM cards off of eBay. Also, T-mobile sells a SIM kit that is available at BestBuy for BYOD devices.

The SIM doesn't need to be active. You just need a SIM card.

If the phone is carrier locked you will need either a SIM from that carrier or one of its MVNO's.
