one side question about activation
after you activated the iphone 3g, can you turn around and say you want to cancel and pay AT&T the termination fee? If you do so, would your iphone 3 g still work with other networks (say T-mobile)? How does that work?

My understanding id that if you try to cancel before 30 days you have to return the phone. After that you can pay the ETF and pay your 1st bill and probably 2nd because you are in the next period by then.

So if you terminate after 30 days, you pay the termination fee, would you still be able to use the phone with other networks the same way you would with AT&T (call, internet, email...)?

I am not sure if they unlock it or not after you cancel and pay the ETF. I would think not, because AT&T is supposed to be the exclusive carrier in the US.

it helps if you have an online account then you could check it when they send you the bill, call ATT and just discuss it once they send you the bill on your account. I did that for my family plan, My first bill came out to 233, but when I called ATT and had all my charges explained, the lady on the phone waived all the activation fees and my iPhone 3g upgrade fee and my final bill came out to 125.

i was already an at&t customer, so im only going to be charged the 18 and i have an online account already, but my bill cut off date isn't till the 20 something.

so i should wait till my bill is available online so i can discuss it with them?
