Activity doesnt work on Phone after watch pair

Hey All.. Happy Summer to everyone.. Quick question:

I have a Series 4 watch and Iphone 7+ .. I noticed that once the watch has been paired to the phone , no activity is recorded to the phone anymore... It will only work when I wear the watch. If I do not wear the watch and leave the house no activity reports on the phone any longer... Is there a setting for this? All works perfect when I wear the watch... Thank you for any replies.

I have seen the same thing, sometimes I'll wear my Garmin 5+ for an activity for a variety of reasons, and to get that activity to show on the rings on the watch, or phone, I must wear my watch for a period, open the activity app on the phone, do a little jig, and then mostly the watch will vibrate and say "You've closed your move/activity ring for the day". Wonder how this works.
