Activity Monitor: 809MBs RAM used???

Hello All,

I'm VERY new to Mac, but i've owned pc's for years. So, forgive me if this is a normal phenomenon. Activity monitor is showing 809MBs of RAM being used on my wired connection on my 2011 iMac. Is this normal? I'm currently running 4Gb of RAM. I checked it twice within a 30min time period.

Free ram is wasted ram in OSX. You're only reporting part of the picture

What do you have in free, wired, active, inactive and used?

True. I should have got on the form last night when I noticed the issue! Rather than go on my memory and speculate, I'll just report back my complete findings when I get home tonight.
