I and my wife both have series 0 watches. I have an iPhone 6 and she has an iPhone 5c. When we go for a walk we both start the quick start outdoor walk. At the end of the walk we have both done the same distance +/- 0.01 miles but the period of the walk say 30 mins is added to my exercise but her's is not. Why is that?

My guess is that you move your arms faster than hers? Setting outdoor walk doesn't guarantee min for workout. Your watch much think you are working out harder? You could see if there is a fault by swapping watches and seeing if you still get the credit and she doesn't.

I will say that I have started moving my arms more when doing the walk workout than when I am not. Probably looks pretty silly, but I am getting the credit! Haha

Report back when you give it a try!

I think you are right, last week I wore my wife's watch and she mine. Her work out time was added to the total exercise, but this week when she wore it herself the work out time was not added

If you pick the "other" workout it automatically gives you a set amount of calories per min as well as counts as activity.

I think it's down to your heart rate - it only counts it as 'exercise' if you have a raised heart rate. Perhaps one of you has better overall fitness? Walk faster ;-)

That also could be true :) I wonder what the heart rate threshold is to count as exercise?

when I got mine in June '15, it wouldn't automatically log any activity even if I went for strenuous hikes. Then the first time I did a cardio workout and selected a workout, the watch began automatically logging all my activity minutes each day (and it has ever since)
