i have a 2 and a 4 Watch and my wife has the original and a 3. Hers records all her activity where mine seems to record all my movements usually going a couple hundred over my set, more than the 12 stands and for example said I only got 2 minutes of exercise because at the Y I only turned on workout last 2 minutes I was there. Wife never does anything special and I can’t figure why she always get 30 minutes of workout and I only get mine if I manually turn on a workout program. Sad part is I’m the one who setup her phone and both watches. Help.

Nobody have any ideas why mine won’t record exercise?
The first thing to check is if you have correct height and weight set.
Check that the band is tight enough for the watch to register your heart rate.
You may need to do some experimentation. Set a workout, get your heart rate up between 110 and 130 beats per minute, keep it up for a minute or two, and then verify that both calories and exercise are being recorded.

This is good advice. Based on everyone having a different height/weight/age/gender, it will calculate calories and exercise differently.

Everything is right on. Wife and I dug a 36” deep hole for flagpole and spent a good 3 hours of strenuous work. She maxed out her exercise where I got about 15 min. The most I’ve ever recorded automatically. If I manually turn on a workout it works properly but wife does nothing special and we workout together. We both use 2 watches with one charging and one on wrist. Hers both work as mine should. Everything else on both watches work as advertised. Even my 2 sleep apps work automatically. Cut down to sleep watch as more info and it records my heart rate lol night long and I like my watch tight so that’s not it.

How fit are you compared to your wife?

So, both your watches log correctly when you set a workout, how high are you getting your heart rate when you don’t set it?
