Those red arrows are actually there for convenience and in no way are an advertisement or otherwise. Sometimes when I'm reading through a long thread and finish and want to get back to the top, the red up arrow saves me scrolling with my mouse or trackpad.

Totally understand what they are for, but they are still extremely annoying, flashing on and off the screen every time you scroll even the slightest.

Might be better if they were light grey or something less intrusive.

I find them so annoying it would be enough to stop me visiting the site so often, luckily i can get rid of them with AD Blocker.

Hey guys, new to the forums. Just wanted to mention that I've been using AdGuard for macOS for a while now, and it still works with Safari 12. I can see the little semi transparent AdGuard icon in the bottom right corner of the window. Plus ads are still gone so I know it's working. I did however pay for the macOS program not just the browser extension or anything. Plus I have the AdGuard DNS servers configured in my router, so that may be helping.

Guys, here's a post by the developer for Adguard. Seems like a pretty good explanation of what's happening with Safari 12. He talks about his extension but also that lots of developers are affected. You can reenable the existing Adguard extension for now, but he expects Apple to stop supporting that sooner or later. But he is working on a new version that should be properly compatible.

I've been using Adguard (the free versions) for a while now on both Mac and iOS and I like it a lot, by the way.

Anyone have good ad block that works AND don't have access to read password and credit card etc.

Cos I used have Ad Block Plus and it stop working Safari 12. Also it says: "can read, modify, and transmit content from all webpages. This could include sensitive information like passwords, phone numbers, and credit cards".

It won't work so it says: "Adblock Plus" does not have permission to read or transmit content from any webpages.

Now I see advert everywhere and take off AdBlock Plus.

Ka-Block! and Wipr both seem to work well and cannot see your info.

From what I have seen, the common issue here is adblock extensions that have a GUI that lets you white/blacklist and an element selector to allow you to select ads on a page to block ads require you to grant that access and all show that warning you mentioned.

Extensions like Ka-Block! and Wipr that do not have those features cannot see your info and do not display that warning.

So you have to decide how important having those added features is.

Wipr works very well. Blocks most ad networks, including Youtube and video ads on all the major news sites (ABC, NBC, FOX). I rebuilding my supported site whitelist (like MacRumors) now.

How I get AdBlock Plus to work??

In Safari Preference it says: "Adblock Plus" does not have permission to read or transmit content from any webpages.

How I give permission to get it working? At moment it not blocking anything. I have use App Store download and install it.

First, make sure you have the latest version of Adblock Plus installed. It was recently updated to comply with Safari 12 and can be downloaded from the Mac App Store. Then, open Safari 12 Preferences, go to "Websites", and select the options you wish. Pay especial attention to "Content Blockers".

My Adblock plus finally working for little over week now. I had to uninstall, force quit safari, reboot and reinstall and it works. No idea why didn’t work before that.

The problem I have experienced with the Adblock alternatives is that for some reason when I use them the Macbook Pro heats up and the fan runs loud, happened with Ublock last year.

I'm currently using Adblock 2.70 on Safari 11, anyone using it on Safari 12?

Of course if Wipr or Ka-block don't cause any fan issues they would be better if they truly can't read your info.
