I have been a Chrome user for many years, but lately I've been using Edge instead.

I'd like to use Safari more, but I am having a tough time with Ad Blockers. I've tried 1Blocker(Which I already use on my iPhone), but on Safari on the Mac, with either 1Blocker or AdGuard, if you goto Foxnews or FoxBusiness websites for example, it won't let you in because it has a popup saying to remove your ad blocker. CNN will sometimes come up and tell you also, but it will let you close the popup. What's weird, with 1Blocker on my iPhone, I don't have this issue in Safari.

If I use Chrome or Edge with uBlock Origin, there are no issues. It hides itself and websites don't even know I am running one.

Anyone have any feedback on this? Am I missing something here, or are just the Ad blockers on Safari just not as good as uBlock Origin?

For AdGuard, if you go under annoyances you should enable the AdGuard annoyances filter. If that doesn’t work enable the Adblock Warning Removal list.

Thanks a bunch! Turning on the Annoyance filter did the trick on Foxnews. Now I don't get the Ad Blocker popup anymore.

I use Wipr ( ad blocker for safari - paid ) on both iOS and macOS, but haven't used safari on mac for a while ( mostly use FF ) ... will check and report back

Given that apple is so security/privacy focussed its frustrating that they havent managed to engineer a Brave like experience. Safari is faster for me than Brave on new M1 but I cant tolerate the youtube adds. I would love to use safari across devices but the amount of adds drive my crazy. Ive tried loads of adblockers. Some never work well, some work for a while and then youtube changes something and the ads return. I use youtube a lot, so just sticking with Brave for now.

Since installing Vinegar, my EweTube ads are a thing of the past, absolutely love it. I don't use Safari on my iPhone, so not sure if it works there.
Another shout-out here for Wipr, kills all the "static" ads.

AdGuard blocks adds from YouTube with safari on the iPhone.
