Has anyone noticed that Safari ad block extensions are no longer working and that "pop-ups" galore is reigning supreme anytime your browse certain website.

This never used to be the case. I went so long without "pop-ups" that I forgot that I even had an extension for that. But recently I have tried 3 different ones and find that the pesky annoying "pop-ups" keep coming through.

any witnesses?

I'm using the AdGuard content blocker extension and have not noticed any change. Could it be you have inadvertently installed some adware? You might try running Malwarebytes to see if it picks up anything.

thanks guys, Malwarebytes found some stuff and cleaned them up. I was under the impression that this was just a Microsoft thing but obviously these guys have found a way of install hidden software on Macs too

So far anyway, there is not currently a way for adware to install itself. What is becoming more common is formerly trustworthy sites like macupdate and downalod.com have begun bundling adware in their downloads along with the legit app installer. So you may have downloaded something and installed an app that came along with the adware unbeknownst to you.
