Hi all

Looking at getting an iPhone XR soon, but trying to figure out how I'm going to play my music via APT-X (would appreciate it this thread didn't go down into the pros and cons of APT-X!).

My thoughts were to use a USB dongle such as a Sennheiser BTD500 or Creative BT-W2 that can transmit in APT-X. And plug this into the iPhone via a Lighting to USB dongle.

Has anyone done anything similar with success?

Cheers

Whoah i’m in the same boat as you looking to get some aptx hd, what’s the exact dongle you are using? Will definitely get one many thanks!

Hi shootertwist14

It's simply the Apple Lightning to USB Camera Adapter and a Creative BT-W2
You can also opt to replace the Creative unit with a Sennheiser BTD-500 as I hear that also works, but it's a little bigger.

Pros: APT-X, finally!
Cons: If no music is playing it disconnects immediately, but it automatically connects as soon as you start playing, so not a big deal. Also you can't control volume with the Music app, you have to do it through the headphones.
