Ok so I am still kind of new to the whole Apple "ADC Membership" stuff. And I was just wondering how it works? Do you have to pay a membership fee? Stuff like that. Thanks! :apple:

yes, its a $100 dollars for a student membership. Otherwise, its a lot, lot more. I assume the only reason you are getting it is to get a the discount. But be aware, that unless you are buying a high end product (mbp, mp), you are wasting your money. With cheaper products you will actually end up losing money when you add in the cost of membership.

also, the discount is a one-time discount. There is an apple online store dedicated to adc members which has all the pricing. I have the link bookmarked but i am not going to post it. If you are resourceful enough to find out about adc, then I am sure you can find the adc page ;)

Thanks but I already looked at that and could not completely figure it out :(

So what kind of discounts do you get? Etc.

ADC Hardware Discount
Through the ADC Hardware Purchase Program, Select Members receive a significant discount on one development system each Membership year. Note that ADC Hardware Purchase Program terms of sale and availability vary by region. For regional web pages, available products, and terms of sale, please visit the ADC Hardware Purchase Program.

from the link above-- click on it, but i don't think it will tell you the actual discount prices unless you are a member

They have a free version that gets you some basic stuff. Unless you're developing Cocoa apps for a living I'd think twice about paying for the full membership.

There are different levels of membership from free to thousands...

Paid membership gives you access to beta software - the level to which this applies depends on which level of membership you pay for.

Student membership gives you ONE hardware discount - lifetime.
ADC select gives you one HW discount per year. The amount of discount varies dependent on the item concerned, but is generally worthwhile - you'll also get free copies of OS X (both beta and shipping versions) during your membership plus a monthly mailing.

I've been an ADC select member for years - but I make a good part of my living as a systems admin (with some programming involvement), so it's been worthwhile. For the average user, it's probably not worth it.
